Captain Eric “Winkle” Brown RN is perhaps the most famous and accomplished Test Pilot of his generation. After a short but distinguished career in the early years of WW2, he became a test pilot at a time when new aircraft types were constantly being developed. As a fluent German speaker he was sent to Germany in the closing months of the war to assess the many cutting edge aircraft programs which were still in development. Post war, his career continued as he tested and assessed many new aircraft types in the UK and USA as the new generation of jet powered aircraft entered service.
He is the holder of many world records, including the largest number of deck landings by any pilot anywhere in the world. Do come along and hear more about this extraordinary man and his many achievements.
