ELAFNS AGM & Outline Summer Programme

This year the AGM will be held on Saturday 14th May 2022 at 2.30pm. Venue the Stables, behind Prestonkirk church.  There is ample parking. The AGM will be followed by a talk on the History of Whitekirk Church by Thomas Torrance, former Session Clerk there and a presentation with images of the graveyard.  Followed by tea.  It will be good to be able to meet again.

The present members of the Council have all served for many years and we are looking for new members. Especially as we are approaching our Centenary in 2024.

HELP.  We urgently need a Treasurer, as our present one is resigning. Not an onerous task. All the data is stored on a designated laptop, and input takes about 1 hour a month. If anyone feels they could do this, please contact Joy Dodd,  on eastlothianantiquarians@gmail.com

We are planning outings to:-

June – Papple

July – Geology Field Trip: with Fiona McGibbon

August – Prestonpans Kirk historical tour

September – Buck & Birch “Wild cuisine” visit

Dates to be confirmed.   Suggestions for other outings welcome.

Negotiations with George Mackintosh for us to have a base in his development at Papple are progressing, and further information for your approval will be sent out shortly.

In 2024 the Society will reach the centenary of its foundation.

We plan to have a big celebration and welcome any ideas, events, displays, speakers etc.

Hope to see you on the 14th May.

Best wishes STEPHEN BUNYAN
