Measuring the Past, Modelling the Future – John McCreadie – Saturday 12th October

The talk will describe how we create high resolution 3d digital models using laser scanning combined with drone and terrestrial photography. We work in the heritage sector creating “digital twins” of real world buildings, structures, objects and landforms to help with their conservation and management.

I will look at how we created the digital model of the exterior of Winton Castle and the recording of its elaborate plaster ceilings.

We will also show how we digitally re-constructed Mavisbank House illustrating how this now ruined building would have looked when it was first built in the 1720s.

Other examples will include our work at New Lanark World Heritage Site, the Hoffmann Kiln at Prestonpans. The Burges Chapel at Mount Stuart, the National Portrait Gallery and perhaps a few others

The talk will be held at the Maitlandfield House Hotel, Haddington, EH41 4BZ., at 2.30pm
