The Society is delighted to present this talk by ecologist Katty Baird at 2.30 PM, Saturday 19th October, 2024.
Please note that the venue will be at Holy Trinity Church, Church Street, Haddington
Nearly a hundred years ago, Alice Blanche Balfour, the Society’s first vice President, published a detailed account of the butterflies and moths of East Lothian in the Transactions. Today, Katty Baird, an ecologist and local expert on moths continues to record and document these important insects.
In this talk Katty will introduce us to the fascinating world of moths and some of the notable species that live locally. She will also look back across the last hundred years to consider how our moths, and the way people record them, have changed since Alice Balfour’s pioneering work.
Signed copies of Katty’s book “Meetings with Moths” will be available to purchase afterwards for £10.
