We are setting up of a members area section of the website. The purpose of the new section is to encourage and widen members’ participation through short written contributions mainly for the web and filling in the long period between publication of the Transactions, which is a biannual affair.
The aim is to stimulate wider interest in the work of the society, including of course the Transactions themselves, ensuring that search engines and social advertising platforms have a regular feed of fresh and interesting content, which is locally relevant. A busy website should also act as a recruitment vehicle to garner new members as well as encourage longer contributions that warrant a place in the printed Transactions.
The new section will be called “Members Forum”. Short articles up to c 500 words, in electronic format with up to 2 / 3 images / illustrations, will be accepted for publication at the Editor’s discretion. We ask contributors to evidence that their work is original and that images used are either copyright free or have the relevant permissions and attributions. We are initially very happy to consider contributions that aim to encourage further debate and research, notes and queries, clarifications and corrections of past errors or omissions.
