Field Names Map now Live

Chris Fleet, the NLS Maps Curator, has confirmed that the Field Names Map has gone live, see https://maps.nls.uk/projects/#east-lothian  A notable milestone for the Society.

It is searchable in the usual ways for a NLS website map plus by Field Name, Farm name and parish.

The relevant fields will show up in a deep red/purplish colour and there is a list of search results.

If you search without filling in any of the fields then all the entries show up and you get a total for all the fields input to date. That number was 274 when I last looked. Two researchers have been coached through the input process so that will help with the backlog of reports awaiting inputting to the map database. Have a ‘play’ with it.
